Trees of Fredonia Guidebook
About Project
An informational booklet featuring 12 of the common trees found in the Fredonia, New York area. Includes identifying information, trivia, and designed vector icons of leaves and fruit/berries of the tree. A funky, unconventional design aimed at an audience of SUNY Fredonia college students in an effort to create engagement with the natural world around them.
Process
A project taking tree-based icons I had already created and incorporating them into a typography-based project, in order to practice becoming more experimental with my typography and layout design. I compiled a few type combinations using various unconventional display fonts before deciding on a set. Rather than using a grid or creating a template like would be typical for a book design, I worked around the shapes of my icons for each page, giving each page its own unique composition.
